Exercises to review present simple, present continuous, past simple and past continuous

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Women's activists have marked November 25 as a day to fight violence against women since 1981. The UN invited governments, international organizations and NGOs to organize activities designated to raise public awareness of the problem. Women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence.
This date came from the brutal assassination in 1960 of the three
Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, on orders of Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo (1930–1961). From wikipedia.
Find out how many women have been assassinated by their sentimental partners this year in your country?

Read the story and write a suitable ending.

An eventful holiday

Last year, my parents decided to send me to London for the summer holidays. It was my first time abroad on my own and I was really nervous. The night before the trip, I couldn't sleep. Before I went to bed, I had packed a suitcase with all my clothes, my digital camera and my travel documents but I couldn't stop thinking there was something I had forgotten to include in it.

By the time I got to the airport, my mother had phoned me three times. "Did you take the passport?" "Yes, mum!!!" Two minutes later, "Did you take the umbrella?" "Yes, mum"...

Saludos,

Beatriz
